Alisa R. Walker practices primarily in the area of workers’ compensation defense in Missouri and Kansas. Alisa completed a clerkship at the Kansas City, Missouri Division of Workers’ Compensation in 2013, gaining valuable experience into the inner workings of the system. Following the Division clerkship, she was hired as a law clerk at a local defense firm in the workers’ compensation department and she was retained as an associate upon admission to the bar. She joined Swanson Midgley, LLC in January of 2017.
Alisa actively handles claims under the supervision of the partners in the workers’ compensation department. In doing so, she has secured many successful outcomes in her cases, including a complete denial of benefits in a Kansas workers’ compensation claim. In addition, she has written numerous briefs to the Appeals Board and Kansas Court of Appeals in representation of the firm’s clients. In that regard, she defends employers ranging from small companies to multi-national corporations.
Prior to attending law school, Alisa worked as a paralegal and investigator for a plaintiff’s personal injury and workers’ compensation firm in Warrensburg, Missouri. In that position, she worked closely with her supervising attorney to prepare cases for trial. This prior experience proves helpful not only in preparing claims for defense, but also in negotiating settlements as she has insight into the plaintiff’s/claimant’s side of her cases.
In her spare time, Alisa enjoys fishing, reading and spending time with her husband, Duane, and their 6 children.
