Swanson Midgley Sponsors Jacqueline Melchior in 2010 Boston Marathon

01/20/10

Swanson Midgley proudly sponsors one of its valuable employees in the 2010 Boston Marathon. Jacqueline (Jackie) Melchior is an avid runner with many marathons on her resume, including a previous run in the Boston Marathon (2008), Chicago Marathon (2008) and of course, the Kansas City Marathon (2007), in addition to the Mahaffie, Pilgrim Pacer and Gobbler Grind Half Marathons. Jackie has successfully placed in the top third in her class at almost every marathon, half marathon or all other local running events.

Jackie Melchior is involved in a rigorous training schedule and diet regimen. She works closely with her personal trainer and running coach, Rich Burgunder, in maintaining her fitness schedule and has even obtained an additional sponsor in Max Muscle of Olathe, Kansas for purposes of maintaining a proper nutritional balance. She is working very hard to make sure that she will be at her best on the day of the run.

In talking with Jackie, she will tell you that "There are three things that I believe are essential to making progress in running marathons: consistency, recovery and the right mental attitude. I believe very strongly that the last item in that list is by far the most important. The next most important is recovery. I believe this is the most overlooked aspect of training - the glue which holds it all together. Finally, I believe that consistent work, rather than hard work, is what reaps the most dividends." Those of us at Swanson Midgley know Jackie is all about hard work and we look forward to watching her as she goes on to the Boston Marathon in the spring.

The Boston Marathon is the most prestigious and long standing marathon worldwide.  It will be held on April 19, 2010.  (For more information about the Boston Marathon, visit the website at http://www.bostonmarathon.org/).
