Kelly Brende Spoke about Drafting Effective Wills and Trusts on March 23, 2010

Swanson Midgley attorney Kelly Dean Brende who concentrates her practice on estate planning, probate, business planning and taxation, served as a faculty member at the Drafting Effective Wills and Trusts seminar in Overland Park, Kansas on March 23, 2010.  The seminar served as a guide through the fundamentals of drafting wills and trusts for attorneys, paralegals, trust officers and accountants.  Ms. Brende spoke on the topic of Basic Tax Considerations – What You Need to Know in Order to Choose the Appropriate Plan, addressing tax considerations of drafting living or testamentary trusts, marital deduction planning, estate and gift taxes, generation-skipping transfer taxes and income tax ramifications of trusts.  She also discussed the repeal of the federal estate tax and generation skipping transfer tax and how it affects current drafting of wills and trusts.  You may find more information at http://www.nbi-sems.com/. Ms. Brende holds a LL.M. in taxation from the University of Missouri, Kansas City, and her law degree, cum laude, from Creighton University.
