Managing Member Kelly Dean Brende who concentrates her practice on estate planning, probate, business planning and taxation served as faculty at Probate Practice: The Essential Basics seminar in Overland Park, Kansas on June 23, 2009. The seminar served as a guide through the probate process from start to finish for attorneys, advisors and financial planners. Ms. Brende holds a LL.M. in taxation from the University of Missouri, Kansas City, her B.S. degree from Northern Michigan University and her J.D. degree, cum laude, from Creighton University. She spoke on the topics of Spouse’s Rights and Family Maintenance, addressing homestead and exempt property, prenuptial and postnuptial agreements, spousal elective shares, family allowances and the duties of personal representatives as they relate to spousal rights and family maintenance.
