New EEO Poster Required by November 21, 2009

11/21/09

EEOC has revised its “Equal Employment Opportunity is the Law” poster. The new version incorporates the Americans with Disabilities Act Amendments Act which went into effect January of 2009 and includes information about the Genetic Information Nondiscrimination Act of 2008 (“GINA”), which is effective November 21, 2009. Employers with 15 or more employees need to post either a supplement to their current EEO poster or an entirely new version of the EEO poster by November 21, 2009. Copies are available for download from the following link to the EEOC website, http://www1.eeoc.gov/employers/poster.cfm. In addition to the posting requirement, employers may want to update handbook policies to ensure they are consistent with the ADA changes and the new GINA Act.
